Generals In Search of 24th ODAC Crown
FOREST, Va. --- Washington and Lee University
is in search of its 24th ODAC women’s tennis crown as the
Generals (13-2 overall, 11-0 ODAC) enter play in the 2014 ODAC
Women’s Tennis Tournament as the top seed for the 12th
straight year. Winner of the past 11 conference
championships, W&L is followed closely into the postseason by
second seeded Roanoke College (14-2, 10-1).
Randolph-Macon College (14-5, 9-2) earned the three seed, while
Bridgewater College (11-4, 8-3) is slotted fourth and will welcome
fifth-seeded Randolph College (12-5, 7-4) to Bridgewater on
Saturday for its quarterfinal match. Shenandoah University (11-5,
6-5) will play out of the sixth position and will make its way to
Ashland for its opening round contest.
The final two seeds were decided via head-to-head tie-breaker with
Emory & Henry College (10-9, 4-7) earning the seventh seed
thanks to its 6-3 victory over Guilford College earlier this month.
GC (6-10, 4-7) rounds out the eight-team field and will travel to
Lexington on Saturday.
Tournament play begins Saturday, April 19, with each of the four
quarterfinals scheduled at the campuses of the four highest
seeds. Each of the four winners will play in the semifinals
on Saturday, April 26, with the championship following on Sunday,
April 27. Sweet Briar College will serve as host for the
final three matches.
