ODAC Athletes of the Week | Baseball, Lacrosse, Softball, Tennis

FOREST, Va. --- Today marks the first solo spring sports report of the season with basketball, indoor track & field, and swimming in their postseason slates. Those earning weekly honors include (heads, top-bottom, left-right): Jonathan Triesler (BSB) from Hampden-Sydney, Hanna Hull (SBALL) from Virginia Wesleyan, Reece Yeargain (BSB) from Randolph-Macon, Jessica Goldyn (SBALL) from VWU, Eric Husselbaugh (MLAX) from Bridgewater, Lilly Blair (WLAX) from Roanoke, Christina Harris (WTEN) from Lynchburg, and Harry Shepherd (MTEN) from Washington and Lee.

BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Jonathan Triesler | Hampden-Sydney | Sr. | Pitcher/Infielder
Triesler, a senior from Chesterfield, Va., put together a strong week both on the hill and at the dish in three wins for Hampden-Sydney. In a 3-0 triumph over Southern Virginia, Triesler started and worked 8.0 scoreless innings. He gave up just three hits and did not walk a batter while striking out nine. He set down the first six Knights he faced and left the game having retired 13 straight batters. Triesler went 5-for-8 with two doubles, two RBI, two walks, and three runs scored in the other two games he played. That included a 4-for-4 day in a 9-4 win over Ithaca. For the season, Triesler is 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA in 15.0 innings of work. He has yet to walk a batter and has fanned 18. At the dish, he's hitting .393 with seven RBI and eight runs scored.

BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Reece Yeargain | Randolph-Macon | Sr. | Catcher
Yeargain, a senior from Chester, Va., hit safely in all four games for Randolph-Macon last week, helping the Yellow Jackets to a 4-0 showing. Yeargain posted a .412/.524/.471 slash line as he went 7-for-17 with a double, eight RBI, six runs scored, two walks, and a stolen base. He went 1-for-5 in a 7-6 win at Christopher Newport, driving in four runs including the go-ahead tally in the top of the ninth inning. As part of a three-game series sweep (8-4, 12-6, 5-4) of The College of New Jersey, Yeargain went 4-for-4 game two with a walk, three RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base. He scored twice in each game of the series. For the season, Yeargain is hitting .356 and ranks fourth in the ODAC in both runs scored (14) and runs driven in (14). He is sixth in hits (16).

MEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Eric Husselbaugh | Bridgewater | Jr. | Attack
Husselbaugh, a junior from Annapolis, Md., put together a 17-point week in helping Bridgewater open the season with a 1-1 showing against non-conference competition. In a 17-11 setback to Mary Washington, Husselbaugh scored four times with three assists and two ground balls. He helped the Eagles recover for a 25-5 win at Huntingdon over the weekend. He registered a school-record six assists to go with four goals scored, three ground balls, and a pair of caused turnovers.

MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Harry Shepherd | Washington and Lee | Sr.
Shepherd, a senior from New York, N.Y., went 3-3 overall against national competition last week, picking up a pair of high profile singles victories. In a 6-3 victory over Atlantic South Region #8 Salisbury, Shepherd made up for an 8-4 loss at #1 doubles with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph at #1 singles over Alec Andradi, the region's second-ranked and nation's 14th-rated singles player. Shepherd again came up with a big singles win despite an 8-5 doubles loss against nationally 25th-ranked Redlands. He posted a 6-7, 7-6, 10-8 tirumph over Andrew Leahy to account for one of the Generals' points in a 6-3 team setback. Shepherd and partner John Rudden got on the board with an 8-7 (5) win at #1 doubles in W&L's 8-1 setback to 17th-ranked Pomona-Pitzer. Shepherd came up short at #1 singles against Jed Kronenberg via a 6-2, 6-2 result. For the year, Shepherd is 6-3 at #1 singles and 4-4 at #1 doubles.

SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Hanna Hull | Virginia Wesleyan | Sr. | LHP
Hull, a senior from Chesterfield, Va., picks up her second straight weekly honor after earning the wins in both ends of a doubleheader sweep over nationally 21st-ranked Salisbury University. Hull started and work the first 3.0 frames in game one as the #10 Marlins churned out a 10-1 win in five innings. She gave up one hit and walked two with five strikeouts. Hull started and worked a full 5.0 innings in a second 10-1 shortened triumph for Virginia Wesleyan. She gave up one run on three hits with three work and six strikeouts. On the season, Hull is 5-0 with a 0.27 ERA in 26.1 innings in the circle. She has walked eight and struck out 34 batters. Opponents are hitting .153 off her.

SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jessica Goldyn | Virginia Wesleyan | Sr. | Catcher/Outfielder
Goldyn, a senior from Virginia Beach, Va., put together a stellar series in a sweep of nationally 21st-ranked Salisbury University. Goldyn posted a .833/.875/1.333 slash line to help the #10 Marlins to a pair of 10-1 victories. She was 2-for-2 with a triple, two walks, two stolen bases, and three runs scored in game one. She followed up with a 3-for-4 effort with a double, three RBI, three stolen bases, and a run scored in game two. For the season, Goldyn is second in the ODAC in batting average (.550) with the league's best on-base percentage (.609). She is fourth in slugging (.800) and second in stolen bases (9).

WOMEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lilly Blair | Roanoke | So. | Midfielder
Blair, a sophomore from Salem, Va., put together a 15-point week in helping Roanoke to a pair of non-conference wins. Blair opened with a record-breaking effort in a 25-4 win at Averett. She set a new Maroons record with 10 goals scored, coming up one shy of the ODAC single-game mark. She added an assist for 11 points and chipped in three draw controls, three ground balls, and a caused turnover. In a 20-7 victory at Oberlin, Blair scored three times and dished out an assist to go with three ground balls, two draw controls, and a caused turnover. For the season, Blair is fourth in the ODAC in goals scored (16) and fifth in points (18).

WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Christina Harris | Lynchburg | Sr.
Harris, a senior from Falls Church, Va., helped Lynchburg go 1-1 in a pair of non-conference team matches last week by going 4-0 between singles and doubles action. In a 9-0 victory over William Peace, Harris and partner Lauren Pascadio picked up an 8-1 win at #1 doubles against Hayley McNair and Mackenzie Braden. Harris then added a win at #1 singles iva a 6-0, 6-0 result over McNair. Harris picked up two points in the Hornets 5-4 team loss to Methodist. She and Caroline Guil won 8-6 at #1 doubles against Abby Caddick and Jill Lawrence. Harris then posted a 6-0, 6-0 #1 singles win over Caddick.
