Ferrum's Overstreet Named ODAC Director of Championships

FOREST, Va. --- The ODAC is pleased to announce that Haley Overstreet is joining the conference office as the Director of Championships. Overstreet, a former student-athlete and assistant coach at Ferrum College, replaces Isaiah Rodgers, who left the position in December to accept an opportunity with Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

"We are thrilled to welcome Haley into the ODAC family," expressed ODAC Commissioner Brad Bankston. "It is great to welcome someone to the conference office who knows the ODAC membership from the inside, having played and coached at Ferrum College. Her enthusiasm for the ODAC and collegiate athletics was evident when we first talked with her about the position."

Overstreet is the fourth Director of Championships in ODAC history and continues a trend of the conference hiring from within its membership. Each person to fill the position has graduated from an ODAC member institution.

As the Director of Championships, Overstreet will oversee the logistics and aid in the planning of all championship events for the conference's 24 sponsored sports. She will serve as the lead officer working with the conference's supervisors of officials and ensure proper management of the league's officiating budget. She will also fill a leadership role towards programming for the ODAC's Senior Woman Administrators (SWA) and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

"Haley's strong work ethic and knowledge about the coach's role on campus and within the conference will be valuable as she plans, executes, and fine tunes our conference championships," added Bankston. "I look forward to watching how that first-hand experience enhances the ODAC for our member student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and officials."

Overstreet spent the past three seasons as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Ferrum's field hockey program in addition to one season as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2018 season. She spearheaded the program's recruitment of prospective student-athletes and aided in developing practice plans and organizing all administrative functions of the team including budgeting, scheduling, and travel logistics.

In addition to coaching, Overstreet served as an advisor for the Ferrum SAAC and as an office assistant in the Ferrum sports information department. Her main functions in the latter role included organizing athletic communications resources in an office setting, assisting operations on game day, and running live streaming events including production and on-air commentary. Overstreet also served as game day administrator for several sports including baseball, football, and soccer, and was a contributor towards Ferrum's efforts as host of the 2019 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at the Berglund Center in Roanoke.

"I would like to thank Brad Bankston and the ODAC Board of Directors for this incredible opportunity to join the league office," explained Overstreet. "The rich tradition of excellence and competition in the ODAC is no secret and I am excited to get to work with our member institutions to continue providing memorable experiences for our student-athletes."

A native of Roanoke, Overstreet graduated from Ferrum in December 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in health and human performance with an emphasis in exercise and sports studies and a minor in coaching. She completed a Masters of Science degree in sports management and interscholastic athletic administration from West Virginia University in 2021.

Overstreet was a three-sport standout at Ferrum, competing in field hockey, lacrosse, and soccer. She is the only student-athlete in Panthers history to score goals in three sports.

Overstreet is scheduled to begin her tenure with the ODAC on February 1.
