ODAC Athletes of the Week | Basketball, Swimming, Wrestling

FOREST, Va. --- ODAC winter sport athletes continued their strong performances in week 12 with several records fall in swimming and excellent early season showings in basketball and wrestling. Those earning ODAC Athlete of the Week awards for Monday, November 21, including (pictured left-right): Jack D'Entremont and Mary Schleusner from Washington and Lee men's and women's basketball, Dalton Jobe from W&L men's swimming, Sean Hall from Roanoke wrestling, John Ryan Sedovy from W&L wrestling, and Brynn Martinson from W&L women's swimming.

Below are entries for all six winners from today's multi-sport release. As we wrap up the fall seasons and transition to winter sports, the schedule below will be used for report ODAC Athletes of the Week:

  • Mondays: basketball, swimming, wrestling
  • Tuesdays: indoor track & field (starts in December)

MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jack D'Entremont | Washington and Lee | Jr. | Forward
D'Entremont, a junior from Bryn Mawr, Pa., put together three strong outings in helping Washington and Lee to a 2-1 week that was two points from being a 3-0 segment following a one-point overtime loss to nationally fourth-ranked Christopher Newport University. In that contest, D'Entremont buried 8-of-14 field goals to go with 8-of-9 from the line towards 25 points. He added eight rebounds and an assist in the opener of the National Beef Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Susquehanna University. In game two of that event, D'Entremont helped the Generals to a 72-68 win over Lebanon Valley with 10 points and 14 rebounds, his second double-double of the week. He added a blocked shot in that contest. Prior to the weekend tournament, D'Entremont went for 15 points and 14 boards in a 106-100 win over Mary Baldwin. He hit 9-of-10 from the line and added seven assists with two blocked shots and a steal.

MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Dalton Jobe | Washington and Lee | Fy.
Jobe, a first-year from Henrico, Va., went record-hunting at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational as he helped lead Washington and Lee to second place in the eight-team field. Jobe set a new ODAC overall record in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:02.19 to win the event. That time is 15th fastest in NCAA Division III this season, less than a second off the NCAA "B-cut" standard. Jobe finished second in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:39.37. He was better during the prelims of the event when he posted a time of 4:37.05, which is the fastest in the conference and 20th in the country. He added a tie for fifth in the 100-yard freestyle in 0:46.67, which would rank inside the ODAC's top-five. Jobe also swam on a pair of relay teams. He swam anchor on the second place 400-yard freestyle relay of Charles Bryar, Baxter Smelzer, and Matt Snyder. They posted a time of 3:05.81, tops in the conference and 10th in Division III. Jobe and Matt Fritz, Todd Echols, and Thomas Denton finished third in the 400-yard medley relay in 3:26.11, which is also #1 in the league and 17th nationally.

WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Brynn Martinson | Washington and Lee | Jr.
Martinson, a junior from Charlotte, N.C., came up just short of two NCAA "B-cut" standards in strengthening her grip on two ODAC top-placements at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational. Her efforts helped Washington and Lee top the 10-team deep table. Martinson won the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events in 0:23.78 and 0:51.83, respectively. Both times improved upon her previous ODAC best marks of the season and rank 14th and 15th in NCAA Division III. Martinson added a second place showing in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:53.42, the best time in the conference. She also helped Washington and Lee improve their season-best showings in three relay events with two victories. They won the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relays with times of 1:36.05 and 3:53.0, respectively. Martinson was joined by Sophia Rollo, Myla Rice, and Tarbet in posting the 11th-best 200-free relay time in the country, while Martinson, Rollo, and Tarbet teamed with Paige McBoyle in setting the 12th-best time in Division III. Martinson, Rice, Rollo, and Tess Deyerle finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:33.33, the 11th-fastest time in the nation.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mary Schleusner | Washington and Lee | Fy. | Forward
Schleusner, a first-year from Charlotte, N.C., helped Washington and Lee to two more ODAC wins to open the 2022-23 slate with a 3-0 mark in league play. Schleusner averaged a double-double over the two outings beginning with nine points and 12 rebounds in an 83-44 win at Eastern Mennonite. She corralled four of her boards via the offensive glass and added two assists and two blocked shots in a 20-minute shift. Schleusner worked eight more minutes in the Generals 79-72 win at Guilford. She made 7-of-11 shots from the field on the way to 19 points. She added nine rebounds to fall one carom shy of two double-doubles for the week. she added four assists, two steals, and a blocked shot to her line.

WRESTLER OF THE WEEK - 165 LBS. AND HEAVIER
John Ryan Sedovy | Washington and Lee | Jr. | 197 lbs.
Sedovy, a junior from Lexington, Va., posted a 4-0 week in dual matches at 197 pounds including a pair of wins against foes from ODAC schools. During the midweek, Sedovy posted a 3-1 sudden victory triumph over Cam Cavins from Roanoke College despite the Generals 18-15 team loss in the first conference dual of the season. At the Star City Duals, Sedovy went 3-0 with a pair of falls and a major decision. He pinned Joseph Akers from Greensboro College at 3:32, helping Washington and Lee to a 48-9 team win. He followed up with a fall at 6:04 over Zach Watson from Thomas More University in W&L's tight 21-19 victory. Sedovy capped his week with a 12-4 major decision win over Jeffery Tubbs from Huntingdon College, aiding W&L's 47-3 winning effort.

WRESTLER OF THE WEEK - 157 LBS. AND LIGHTER
Sean Hall | Roanoke | So. | 133 lbs.
Hall, a sophomore from Powhatan, Va., was a dominant force for Roanoke at the Star City Classic with three wins by fall at 133-pounds to claim the weight class title. Hall first topped Christian Orozco wrestling unattached from the University of Mount Olive with a pin at 4:02. He then bested his teamate Corey Messick with a fall at 2:06. Hall capped his day with a pin at 6:38 of Washington and Lee's David Rubin.
