The Lead: Sixth-seeded Roanoke College scored an 85-58 win over No. 3 seed Bridgewater in the Quarterfinals of the 2020 ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament.

How it Happened:

  • Roanoke led 9-5 halfway through the first period when a Rose Sander basket at the 4:23 mark sparked what would prove to be a 19-4 Maroon run to close the quarter, capped by a Whitney Hopson three-pointer with 13 seconds to go that made it 28-9.
  • RC would score six of the first eight points in the second quarter pushing ahead 34-11 after two Molly Hassell free-throws with 6:23 to play in the half.
  • With the score 34-17, Roanoke got a three-pointer from Sayre Brandstatter that sparked a 13-5 run for the Maroons over the final four minutes of the half and lifted RC to a 47-22 lead at the intermission.
  • Roanoke led 53-33 midway through the third quarter and would outscore the Eagles 9-5 for the remainder of the quarter to take a 62-38 lead heading to the fourth.
  • The Maroons lead would hit as many as 33 when Hassell drained a basket that made it 73-40 with eight minutes to go in the game.
  • Hopson led RC with 12 points. Ayanna Scarborough had 11 points, while Morgan Micallef and Renee Alquiza each had 10. The Maroons shot 42.6% for the game, making 26-of-61 shots from the floor. RC also made 29-of-41 attempts from the free-throw line. The Maroons assisted on 15 of their 26 made field goals led by Kristina Harrel with six helpers.
  • Madison Baum led BC with 10 points. The Eagles shot just 31.7% for the game, making 20-of-63 attempts.
