DANVILLE, VA – Randolph-Macon converted a school record 20 three-point field goals, including 11 from junior Adam Desgain as the No. 11 Yellow Jackets ran by Averett 97-55 in men's basketball action on Sunday afternoon.

Randolph-Macon (8-2) made 21-of-32(65%) trifectas during the game, marking the third time in the last 11 days that R-MC has tied or broke the program record for three-pointers made in a game. The Jackets knocked down 17 three-pointers last Saturday in a win over Guilford, three days after tying a school record with 15 threes against Lynchburg.

Desgain's 33 points is a career high and his 11 three point field goals ties an R-MC individual single game record set by Joe Goldin against Emory & Henry on February 6, 1997.  Goldin set an NCAA record by going 11-of-11 against the Wasps that day.

Danny Jones also had 21 points in the win for R-MC on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor, while Calvin Croskey made four, three-pointers on his way to a 14 point performance. Jones also grabbed seven boards in the win.

R-MC shot 65% from the field, making 32-of-49 shots on the afternoon. The Yellow Jackets assisted on 27 of their 32 shots, with Eric Pugh dishing out nine assists and Thomas Scheeler adding six helpers in the win.

The game was tied at three with just over 17 minutes remaining in the half before R-MC used a 19-3 run; opening up a 22-6 lead after Desgain nailed three with 8:05 remaining in the first stanza.

AU, rallied with a 9-1 run over its own, cutting the R-MC lead to 23-15 after a pair of Cortes free-throws with 6:16 left on the clock.

R-MC would score 10 of the next 13 points to stretch out its lead and would take a 47-24 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

The Yellow Jackets put the game out of reach by outscoring the Cougars 20-9 during the first eight minutes of the second half, taking a 67-33 lead when Desgain drained a three-pointer.

Marquis Scott led AU (1-10) with 14 points, while Victor Cortes and Paul Porter had 11 and 10 points, respectively for the Cougars in a losing effort.

Randolph-Macon will be off for the Christmas holiday before hosting the R-MC Coaches Classic sponsored by Kay Jewelers on December 30th and 31st. Averett and Johns Hopkins with open up play at 5:00 p.m. on the 30th, while R-MC will square off with Hood at 7:00 p.m.
