The Lead: Roanoke played their 2022 regular season finale on Saturday afternoon before a packed house on Alumni Weekend. The Maroons would retire a pair of jerseys as well as honor the original group that brought the sport to the Roanoke campus in the 1960's. Prior to the opening faceoff, the graduating seniors were honored in their final regular season game in Kerr Stadium. Roanoke wasted little time in jumping on Randolph on their way to building a 14-0 first quarter lead. The Maroons didn't slow down on their way to picking up their ninth conference win of the season, 26-1.

How it Happened:

  • Luke Kammerman and John Dias scored in the opening 1:10 to get Roanoke off to a quick start. Jay Frye and Stephen Conte added unassisted goals ahead of a score by Wyatt Whitlow, off a feed from George Gilbert. Kammerman added another prior to a score by Brock Niemeyer. The Maroons would get two more goals each by Kammerman and Whitlow and ended the first 15-minutes with a 14-0 lead.
  • Senior Griffin Buck started the second frame with his first goal of the afternoon. Gilbert found Trevor Stocks to push the advantage to 16. Dominic Cuomo and Jack Isabelle hooked up twice in a row and when Sean Kennedy put one in the back of the net, the score was 19-0. Isabelle added a goal to his two assists in the closing seconds sending the game into the half with RC up big.
  • With a big lead, Roanoke looked to take time off the clock during a third quarter that would get started with another Kennedy score. Randolph would finally get on the board, but Roanoke answered with scores by Harrison Peacock and Matthew Albertson to close the quarter with a 23-1 advantage.
  • Charlie Goodrich set up Isabelle and then scored himself. Senior Elliot Adams closed out regular season with a 26-1, ODAC, victory.
  • Kammerman had four goals and three assists while Whitlow added four scores. Taylor Lewis got the start and credited for the win. Cole Hiller, Greg Oakes, and Dan Cain all saw time in goal in relief.

Up Next: The Maroons will now wait to see where they fall in the final Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) standings heading into the 2022 ODAC Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament.
