No. 38 Randolph-Macon Baseball Earns A Pair Of ODAC Wins, 3-2 And 11-1, Over Emory & Henry Saturday

ASHLAND, Va. – The No. 38 Randolph-Macon College Baseball Team (9-3, 7-0 ODAC) squeaked by with a 3-2 game-one victory and completed the sweep over Emory & Henry College (1-6, 1-6 ODAC) with an 11-1 win in the nightcap Saturday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

Game One – No. 38 Randolph-Macon 3, Emory & Henry 2
Emory & Henry got on the board in the top of the first when senior third baseman Hayden Milley (Clover, S.C.) plated senior shortstop Caleb Haynes (Covington, Va.) on a ground ball.

The Yellow Jackets took a 2-1 lead in the third as Kevin Mooney doubled to centerfield, plating a pair. The Wasps responded in the top of the fifth to tie the game when sophomore catcher Nathan Treadway (Valdese, N.C.) scored on a wild pitch.

Randolph-Macon got the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth as Brooks Mazey hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Jacob Selden for the 3-2 final margin.

Jacob Lawler earned the win in relief for R-MC, pitching two innings of hitless ball with one strikeout while Tyler Dunn picked up his third save of the season, striking out one batter in the ninth. Matt Nickles got a no-decision, pitching six innings as he allowed two runs on four hits with eight strikeouts.

Emory & Henry senior right-hander Noah Griffin (Fort Mill, S.C.) went the distance, scattering three runs on eight hits with two strikeouts despite taking the loss.

Game Two – No. 38 Randolph-Macon 11, Emory & Henry 1
The Wasps again struck first in the top of the second as an infield single by freshman centerfielder Jared Foley (Sparta, N.C.) drove in senior right fielder Jacob Zoller (Culpeper, Va.), who led the inning off with a double.

Randolph-Macon went up 3-1 in the third, highlighted by a two-run double by Mike Nickles. The Yellow Jackets continued to score often, plating a pair of runs in each inning between the fourth and seventh to extend their lead to 11-1. R-MC excelled in manufacturing runs as four scores came via sacrifice flies.

Hayden Snelsire earned the win, allowing one run on four hits with three strikeouts in five innings pitched. Wasp senior J.T. Agosto (Cornelius, N.C.) was settled with the loss, allowing six earned runs on eight hits in four-plus innings of work.
