#25 Men's Soccer Tops Roanoke, 1-0, Behind Sampson's PK

The No.-25 ranked Emory University men's soccer team came away with hard fought one-goal victory over Roanoke College Saturday afternoon at the OrthoCarolina Sportsplex in Charlotte, NC.

Senior Nate Sampson provided the scoring in the contest, converting on a penalty kick opportunity in the 63rd minute. It was his first goal of the season.

The Emory backline was solid once again, posting its second consecutive shutout and third clean sheet of the season. The Eagles limited the Maroons to just six shots in the contest with senior Jack Hudson making two saves in the whitewash.

Offensively, Sampson paced the team with a game-high five shots, two on target, with senior Ethan Cohen and junior William Knight each adding two shot attempts (1 SOG). The Eagles outshot RC 16-6 in total chances including a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Emory, now 3-1-2 on the season with two straight wins over ODAC opponents, have a quick turnaround and will take on Christopher Newport University in a top-25 matchup at the Sportsplex at 3:00 PM on Sunday.
