Women's Lacrosse Picks Up Fourth Straight Win

BRIDGEWATER, Va.- The Juniata women's lacrosse team never trailed as they picked up a 19-10 victory at Bridgewater to start their spring break trip, Tuesday afternoon at the Jopson Athletic Complex.

Talia Bertrando (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) netted her 100th career goal as she led the attack with five goals, three assists to go with three ground balls, and a caused turnover. Grace Gibbs (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck) amassed four goals, six ground balls, and five caused turnovers. Peyton Goodrich (Reading, Pa. / Berks Catholic) tallied five goals, seven ground balls, and two caused turnovers, while Kyndall Yeager (Westminister, Md. / South Carroll) added three assists. Michaela Naccarini (Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill) totaled a goal and an assist, Shayla Lapp (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) had two goals and two ground balls while Shannon Para (Alexandria, Va. / West Potomac) amassed a goal and two ground balls. Isabella Michener (Randolph, N.J. / Randolph) tacked on a goal, and Chloe Gerhard (Macungie, Pa. / Emmaus) had six saves in net. 

Juniata scored the first four goals of the game in the opening four and half minutes as Gibbs struck twice; Bertrando scored one before she set up Naccarini to give JC a 4-0 lead. Bridgewater scored twice in the final eight minutes to make it 4-2 after one. 

The hosts scored the first goal of the second before Bertrando, and Gibbs found the back of the net a little over a minute apart to give JC some breathing room. Bridgewater got back within one over the next five minutes before Goodrich scored her first goal of the day to send the Eagles into the locker room up by two at the break. 

Juniata put the game out of reach in the third as they struck for nine goals, including five straight in the final eight minutes of the quarter.

Juniata cruised through the fourth, with Bertrando striking three times, including her 100th career goal with two and half minutes to go in the game. 

Juniata will play at Averett Thursday at 3:30.
