The Lead: The Roanoke women's lacrosse team played host to Washington and Lee on Wednesday night. The Generals came into the matchup ranked 2nd in the most recent IWLCA Coaches Top 25 Poll. Washington and Lee would control much of the action in the first half and took a 12-1 lead into the break. The Maroons would score four, second half goals but it wasn't' enough as the Generals picked up the 17-5 victory.

How it Happened:

  • The Generals would score five goals in the first 10 minutes of play.
  • With 12:25 left before the half, the Maroons would get on the board when Tiernan Connor scored off a feed from Maddie Stopkoski.
  • W&L would take a 12-1 advantage into the break after a first half that would see the visitors enjoy a 16-6 edge in shots.
  • Lilly Blair scored an unassisted goal less than two minutes into the second frame.
  • Five unanswered scores by the generals would eliminate any thoughts of a RC comeback.
  • Kyla Popielaski and Molly Kasemeyer would add unassisted goals before Ellie Armstrong scored the final goal of the night off a pass from Kasemeyer.
  • Carly Schoudel faced 21 shots on goal and recorded four saves.
