The Lead: The Roanoke College men's tennis team entered the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament as the fifth seed and made the trip to Lynchburg to face the Hornets in the quarterfinals. Lynchburg took a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches. A Roanoke rally would see the Maroons claim four of the singles matches to close out Lynchburg, 5-3, advancing to the semifinal round.

Highlights:

  • Dalton Capobianco and Hunter Adams picked up a win at #3 doubles to prevent Lynchburg form sweeping the three matches, 8-2.
  • The Maroons would need to win four of the six singles matches if they were to advance in the ODAC tournament.
  • Jack Fishwick earned a win at the top singles spot, 6-2 and 6-3. At the #3 position, Capobianco got the Marrons closer to the win with a 6-0 and 6-3 victory.
  • Zach Kriebel picked up a win at #4, 6-0 and 6-2.
  • Needing one of the final two matches, Roanoke would look to close out the Hornets with a win at #6 singles. Lance Beheler dropped the first set, 7-5, but evened up the match with a 6-3, second set, win. The decisive set would go to Beheler, 6-3, and advance the Maroons into the semifinals.

Up next: Roanoke will once again go on the road when they travel to the top seeded Generals of Washington and Lee for a semifinal match on Wednesday, May 5th.
