Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Downs Warren Wilson, 96-77, Tuesday At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (1-8) saw five players reach double figures in scoring as it earned its first win of the season, 96-77, over Warren Wilson College (0-2) Tuesday evening.

How It Happened
- The two squads battled to an 11-all tie at the 14:48 mark of the opening half. Seven straight points by the Owls gave them an 18-11 lead which they stretched to eight (27-19) with 7:52 to go before the half.
- Emory & Henry then went on a 27-6 run covering 5:19 for a 46-33 advantage and went into the locker room up, 51-39.
- Returning to action, WWC closed the gap to nine, 53-44, early in the second but E&H responded with a 21-9 run to push its margin to 21 (74-53) with 13:40 to play. The teams traded baskets for the middle portion of the half which saw the Wasps go up by as much as 22 points with 6:29 to play.
- Warren Wilson would not get any closer than 16 points the rest of the way as Emory & Henry cruised to the 96-77 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore guard Kevin Grau Rodriguez (Tampa, Fla.) led all players with 27 points, adding eight rebounds and two blocks while freshman guard Patrick Antonelli (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) had 10 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and two steals.
- Junior guard Tyler Arnold (Kingsport, Tenn.) contributed 20 points and four boards while junior guard Micah Banks (Simpsonville, S.C.) added 13 points.
- Sophomore guard Malcolm Morgan (Concord, N.C.) finished with 12 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five steals.

Warren Wilson Individual Leaders
- Jerry Daye had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds to go along with four steals and two assists while Antonio Ledbetter tallied 14 points and seven rebounds.
- Tyler Whiteside had 14 points, four rebounds and two assists off the bench as DeMarco Jackson contributed 13 points, seven boards and two steals.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry hit 34-of-69 (49.3%) of its shots from the floor, going 13-for-30 (43.3%) from three-point range. The Wasps also made 78.9 percent (15-of-19) of their free throws.
- Warren Wilson shot 41.9 percent (31-for-74) for the game and hit 13-of-21 (61.9%) of its shots from the stripe.
- The Owls held a 45-41 rebounding advantage and led, 52-40, on points in the paint.
- E&H scored 35 points on 17 WWC turnovers and posted a 33-25 margin on bench scoring.
