The Lead: The Maroons welcomed Bridgewater to the Cregger Center on Wednesday night with Roanoke playing in front of the home fans for the first time since September 16th. The Maroons got off to a quick start taking the opener before the Eagles rallied to make it 1-1. The final two sets would be close, but each time it would be Bridgewater that would pick up the necessary points down the stretch for the 3-1 ODAC win.

Highlights:

  • A Rylee Mayer kill capped a 6-0 run as Roanoke took a 12-4 lead to open the match. The Eagles closed it to four points late, but a pair of Ryanna Clark kills and an Eagle service error gave the Maroons a 1-0 advantage.
  • The second set would see Bridgewater use a 5-0 surge to seize control, 15-7. A Peyton Kirchner kill and Logan Pasley ace helped close the gap, but the Eagles finished the set on a 6-1 run to even the match, 1-1.
  • A pair of Eagle miscues and a Parker Moody kill made it 18-17 BC, but Roanoke could get no closer as the visitors once again ended the set with a run, taking a 2-1 lead into the fourth.
  • Mayer gave Roanoke a 20-19 lead before the Eagles used a third consecutive, end of set, run to close out the match.
  • Mayer and Kirchner led Roanoke with 10 kills while Clark added eight. Olivia Newman (19) and Kylee Draper (18) handed out 37 assists with Newman adding 17 digs. Pasley and draper combined for five of RC's six service aces.

Up next: The Maroons go back out on the road Monday for a rematch with Southern Virginia at 5:00pm.
