Women's Tennis Drops Contest with Roanoke
HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Defiance College women's tennis team continued their spring break action on Wednesday morning against Roanoke College. THe Yellow Jackets were downed by the Maroons 9-0.
HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Defiance College women's tennis team continued their spring break action on Wednesday morning against Roanoke College. THe Yellow Jackets were downed by the Maroons 9-0.
Cayla Walker (Archbold/Archbold) and A.J. Breneman (Bryan/Bryan) pushed their Maroon opponents to an 8-4 decision in number one doubles play. Roanoke picked up the next two doubles matches, heading into singles play with a 3-0 lead.
Breneman battled to a 6-3 score in the first set of singles action before picking up four games in the second set of number two doubles.
In other singles competition, Alexa St. Julian (Oregon/Clay) pulled a 6-4 scoreline out of her first set in the number four slot, before falling 6-0 in the second set. Walker, Rylea Amspaugh (Nashport/Lakewood), and Sydney Huston (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence) each picked up game wins in their singles defeats.
The Yellow Jackets will wrap up the 2019 spring break trip with a match against Methodist University on March, 7th. First serve is slated for 1:00 pm.
