Long Range Shooting Sends R-MC to a 89-55 Victory at Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, VA – No. 12 Randolph-Macon knocked down 15 shots from beyond the three-point arc and shot 52% from the floor on the night as the Yellow Jackets earned an 89-55 ODAC road win at Lynchburg on Wednesday evening.

R-MC (6-2 / 2-1 ODAC) got a game-high 18 points from Eric Pugh, who tallied all his points on six trifectas. Pugh's backcourt mate Calvin Croskey connected on three triples, finishing with 11 points in the win. Brandon Braxton had nine points for R-MC, while Danny Jones chipped in with eight points off the bench.

The Yellow Jackets made 34-of-65 shots on the night, were 15-of-28 from the beyond the three-point line and assisted on 21 of their made field goals. Pugh dished out six assists and Adam Desgain had four helpers. Jordan Brown snared seven rebounds on the night to help R-MC to a 36-32 edge on the glass.

With the Jackets up 20-15, R-MC went on an 18-4 run in the final 5:28 of the first stanza , taking a 38-19 lead into the locker room when Brown scored as time expired.

Over the course of the first eight minutes of the second half, R-MC scored a 24-5 run fueled by five, three-point field goals. The run was capped by a Lamar Giggetts bucket making the score 62-25 with just under 12 minutes to play.

The Yellow Jacket lead would reach as many as 41 in the second stanza, as the R-MC notched its second straight win and dropped LC to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the league.

LC was led by Andrew Simmons who had 13 points off the bench for the Hornets.  Lynchburg shot 40% on 22-of-55 attempts from the floor.  LC turned the ball over 21 times that led to 35 R-MC points.

Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Saturday when it welcomes Guilford at 2:00 p.m. in Ashland.
