WINCHESTER, Va.- The Juniata men's tennis team started off the spring season with a, 8-1 win over Shenandoah on Saturday.
The Eagles opened up the match winning two of the three doubles matches. Ilia Buralkin (Moscow, Russia / -) and Xavier Huerta (Grand Prairie, Texas / Mansfield Lake Ridge H.S.) fell in a close, 8-4 match, William Michelson (Old Mystic, Conn. / Stonington) and Seth Strawser (Richfield, Pa. / Juniata HS) won, 8-1 at second doubles, and Trey France (Blue Bell, Pa. / Wissachichon) and Robert Singer (Olney, Md. / Sherwood HS) won, 8-2 at third doubles.
After doubles the Eagles were up, 2-1 on the Hornets. Juniata sealed the win over Shenandoah as they won all six singles matches.
Buralkin won, 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 at first singles, Huerta won, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 at second singles, and Michelson won, 6-2, 6-1 at third singles. Strawser won, 6-2, 6-1 at fourth singles, Singer won, 6-1, 6-2 at fifth singles, and France won, 6-4, 6-1 at sixth singles.
The men now move to 3-1 overall and will face St. Francis in an exhibition match on February 16th at 6:30PM.
