The Basics
Score: Roanoke 64 | Randolph 34
Records: Maroons 13-6, 8-4 | WildCats 5-13, 1-11
Location: Lynchburg, Va.
The Lead: RC used their depth, 12 different Maroons scored on the night, to complete the season sweep of Randolph College.
How it Happened:
- The Wildcats struck first, scoring the first five points of the night before Morgan Micallef and Ayanna Scarborough came off the bench to spark a 6-0 Roanoke surge.
- With just over a minute left in the first quarter, Scarborough hit a jumper and JaBryah Haverkamp added a three ball to give the Maroons a double-digit edge heading into the second frame.
- Over the first 3:00 of the second, Randolph was able to cut their deficit to seven (23-16). However, Roanoke would score the final six points of the period to take a 13 point advantage into the break.
- After Randolph hit a jumper to start the second half, Corinne McPadden scored the first point of a RC run that was capped by a pair of Scarborough layups, giving RC their largest lead to that point, 17 points.
- The Maroons would take a 15 point edge into the final stanza. Allison Livengood capped an 11 point run to start the quarter to put the game away.
- The Roanoke defense held the WildCats to just five points over the final 10 minutes and a Megan Wheeler jump shot would close out the scoring, giving RC the 30 point win.
- Scarborough registered a double-double with game highs in points (16) and rebounds (10). Kristina Harrel added 11 points as 12 different Maroons scored on the night.
- RC hit 45% of their shots while holding their hosts to just 22.6% from the field and 18.5% from behind the arch.
Up next: Roanoke will continue their ODAC road swing with a trip to Eastern Mennonite on Saturday afternoon.
