GETTYSBURG, PA – No. 2 Randolph-Macon finished the game on a 19-8 run over the final six minutes to take the 2010 Gettysburg Tip-Off Tournament, 56-42, over the host Bullets on Saturday afternoon.

Randolph-Macon (3-0)  was led by all-tournament choice Eric Pugh who had a team-high 19 points.    Danny Jones, who was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, came off the bench to score 16 points and grab seven rebounds in just 21 minutes of action.    Jones helped R-MC to a 35-26 advantage on the boards for the game.  Adam Desgain and Kevin Voelkel also grabbed six caroms on the afternoon for the Jackets.

Gettysburg (1-1) got 24 points and seven rebounds from all-tournament choice Andrew Powers.  R-MC held GC to just 15 field goals on the afternoon, including 0-for-8 from beyond the three point arc.

The game was a defensive battled throughout with neither teams being able to open up more than a seven-point edge through the first  35 minutes of  action.

After a Powers bucket made the score 37-34 in favor of R-MC with just over six minutes, the Jackets scored the next 10 points, taking a 47-34 advantage on a Pugh three-pointer with three minutes to play in the game.

The Bullets attempted to rally when a Powers shot pulled GC within nine at 47-38 with 2:26 to go in the game, but that would be as close as they would get as R-MC scored the next seven points to seal the game.

Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Friday when it travels to Wabash College where it will take on UW-Lacrosse at 6:00 p.m.
