#23 Tartans Blank Hampden-Sydney
(ORLANDO, Fla.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked 23rd nationally, continued its spring trip in Orlando, Florida on Sunday with a 9-0 blanking of Hampden-Sydney College. The Tartans evened their record at 3-3 with the Tigers moving to 2-4.
Doubles Play:
- The Tartans swept doubles for the first time this season with the tandem of junior Derek Wong and Akshay Joshi taking the first point with an 8-4 win at two.
- Senior Jonathan Nottingham and freshman Sebastien Lhuillier collected an 8-5 win at three.
- The top tandem of senior Matthew Poh and junior Nicholas Wernink finished off the sweep with an 8-7(5) win.
Singles Play:
- The Tartans won all six singes matches in straight sets.
- The first point came from Nottingham at five with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking.
- Wernink then won at the second spot 6-0, 6-1 followed by Joshi at six by the identical scores.
- Poh played at four and collected the next point winning 6-1, 6-0.
- The final two points of the match came from senior Raahil Doshi and sophomore William Wang who on at first and three singles, respectively. Doshi won 6-2, 6-3 and Wang 6-1, 6-1.

- The Tartans will play 29th-ranked Haverford College at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 6.
