Game Summary
First Quarter: Caputo set the defensive tone early with a pair of saves on back-to-back shots by Paolano in the opening minutes of play. Amil equaled her cage colleague with stops on shots by sophomore Christina Orio (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) and Soares to maintain the scoreless deadlock.
Second Quarter: The Bullets wasted no time getting on the board to start the second frame as Bertrando ripped a shot from the left side that caromed off the left post into the cage for her first goal of the campaign. Caputo stopped Paolano twice more to keep Gettysburg in front heading into halftime.
Third Quarter: Gettysburg's defense kept W&L off the board despite a series of three penalty corners and four shots five minutes into the second half. Sophomore Lauren Beccaria (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) put a shot on goal in the 45th minute and Amil came up with the save, but the rebound was tapped in by Soares for a 2-0 lead. Just 30 second later, Shaffer logged her second defensive save of the year to maintain the advantage for Gettysburg.
Fourth Quarter: The Generals pressed the attacked in the fourth quarter, but found no give to the Bullets' stout defensive effort, coming up empty on five shots.
