The Lead: For the first time this season, the Roanoke men's soccer team went on the road. After playing to draws in each of their first two matches, the Maroons would once again go overtime with Lynchburg. After a pair of extra periods, the match would end in a 0-0 draw.

Highlights:

  • The match started slowly with neither team registering a shot for the first seven minutes of play.
  • Lynchburg would enjoy the first scoring opportunities of the night. The Hornets got off the first four shots of the evening, but only one was on the mark and that shot was saved by Zach Behe.
  • 22 minutes into the matchup the Maroons got their first scoring chance, but the Anthony Zarlenga shot was saved by the Lynchburg keeper.
  • Over a two minute stretch during the middle portion of the first half, Roanoke would send three shots on the Hornet net but couldn't tally a score.
  • The first 45 minutes would see Lynchburg hold a 10-5 shot advantage overall, but shots on goal would see the Maroons enjoy a 4-3 edge.
  • The second half would not see many scoring chances for either team with only two of the overall six shots finding the mark, Behe recorded a pair of saves.
  • The first 10 minute bonus session would see just a Liam Camilleri shot that was turned away by Kyle Gallagher.
  • In the second extra frame, the Hornets would take a trio of corners but none resulted in scoring chances.
  • As the clock ticked down under a minute, RC got one last chance on a corner kick. Chris Jerrild sent a perfect ball into the zone and a Camilleri header was knocked over the bar by Gallagher and the match would end in a scoreless draw.
