Fifth year senior guard Da'Shawn Cook scored 24 points, and forwards Greg Rowson and Daniel Peterson each collected double-doubles in aiding the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team to a scorching secong half, busting open a tied score at halftime for an 85-58 victory at the University of Lynchburg on Tuesday night in Lynchburg.

The game remained tight through much of the first half, and, fittingly, ended tied at 35-35. But in the second half, UMW exploded for 50 points, while limiting the home team to 23, for the comfortable victory.

Cook went 10-15 from the field, making 2-5 three point tries, and connected on 2-4 free throws. Rowson scored 16 points on 6-14 shooting, making 1-5 threes and 3-4 free throws. Peterson added 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, and junior Zack Blue added 11 points and nine rebounds.

UMW shot 46.0% (29-63) from the field, making 4-22 three-point attempts and 23-33 free throws. Lynchburg shot 24.3% (17-70), making 5-39 three point tries and 19-22 free throws. The Eagles controlled the glass with a 55-39 advantage in rebounds.
