The Lead: RC traveled to Lynchburg looking to even their ODAC record against Randolph College. The Maroons scored first and never trailed as they picked up the, 79-64, conference win over the WildCats.

How it Happened:

  • Brayden Gault and Kasey Draper would stake RC to a 5-0 lead right after the opening tip.
  • At the mid-way mark of the first half, Draper would hit a pair of free throws to give Roanoke their largest lead of the first half, 25-17.
  • In the closing stages of the first frame, Ethan Rohan hit a free throw and Caleb Jordan converted a layup to give RC the 38-32 edge at the break. The first 20 minutes would see the Maroons hold the home standing WildCats to just 30.8% from the field while out-rebounding their hosts, 19-13.
  • Jordan would score six straight to open the second half and give Roanoke their first double digit lead of the afternoon, 44-32.
  • With 13:19 to go, Randolph would use a 13-0 run to knot the score at 51-51 with just over 10 minutes left to play. Gault and Draper would team up again to score the next eight points, giving RC the momentum and control of the game.
  • Randolph would once again close the gap, 59-58, but RC dominated the final six minutes of play, closing the game on a 20-6 surge.
  • Draper paced five Maroons in double figures with 13 points, seven rebounds, and a pair of steals. Jordan and Gault each added 12 while Efosa Edosomwan scored 11 and Dillon Thomas netted 10.
  • Jordan had a team high nine boards and joined teammate Tripp Greene with three assists apiece.

Up next: Roanoke will take their 1-1 ODAC record into the exam period and will not take the court again until they host the Cregger Invitational on December 29th. The Maroons will play Stevenson at noon to kick off the, two day, event.
