ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's lacrosse team fell 19-1 to undefeated Guilford College at home on Wednesday afternoon.

Guilford (4-0) got out to a quick 8-0 lead after the first 15 minutes as they controlled many of the draw controls and the groundballs. The Quakers then added four more goals to take a 12-0 lead at the break.

Wesleyan scored their first and only goal of the game with 14 minutes to play as sophomore Madeline Graham scored off an Ali Cucinotta assist as the Bishops were a man up.

Guilford, though would add five more goals in the final 10 minutes while holding the Bishops scoreless the rest of the way even as Cucinotta and freshman Winter Hardison won a few draws and attempted shots as they tried to get Wesleyan back in the game, but GC was too much.

Cucinotta attempted a team-high 5 shots while winning four draws and collecting two ground balls. Hardison won three draws and led the team with 3 ground balls and a caused turnover while sophomore Maddie O'Neill also recorded two ground balls.

Freshman goalie Izabella Espoile made 11 saves on 30 shots on goal for the Bishops, who fall to 1-2 on the year.

Wesleyan is right back in action on Saturday though when they battle conference foe Huntingdon College down in Alabama at 1:00 PM.
