Guilford Defeats Brevard to Begin Spring Break Homestand

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College men's lacrosse team (2-3) fell by a final of 22-3 to Guilford College (3-1) to begin a three-game Spring Break homestand for the Tornados on Tuesday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

Parker Corbett, Frankie Howard, and Nate Stone all got in the scoring column for the Tornados, while Finnegan McCormack added an assist and went 3-for-3 on faceoffs. Jack Hicks (2-2) made 14 saves, which is a season-high for the Greensboro, North Carolina native. Michael Peters and Jacob Gravely each caused two turnovers while Lucas Harvey had a team-best four ground balls.

Guilford's offensive surge of 22 goals was led by Joe Hirvonen who scored six goals and had an assist for seven points. Gavin Brown scored five times with four assists for nine points, while Gabe Alvarez scored once and dished out a team-best seven assists for eight points.

The Quakers were able to dominate most every facet of the contest, outshooting the Tornados 57-14 with a 61-24 ground ball advantage. Guilford went 21-for-26 on faceoff attempts and was 3-for-5 in man-up situations. The Quaker defense also forced BC into 36 turnovers.

Brevard returns to action Friday for a matchup against Husson University at 1 p.m.
