The Lead: Roanoke played host to Emory & Henry in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match on Thursday night. It was the first match this season for the Maroons on their home court in the Cregger Center. Roanoke would sweep E&H, 3-0, picking up their second conference win of the season.

How it Happened:

First Set:

  • The set would be tied at 5-5 before the Maroons would take the lead and look to pull away. Emory & Henry kept it close throughout but Roanoke would close the set on a 5-1 run to take the 1-0 lead.
  • A service ace by Kennedy Clemmer would put RC in front by four. After a Wasps kill, a service error and then a kill by Parker Moody would close out the first frame, 25-19.

Second Set:

  • E&H raced out to a 5-0 start and enjoyed their largest lead at 8-2.
  • Logan Pasley took the ball behind the service line and after three aces and four Wasp errors, the Maroons would be in front.
  • The Maroons out-hit their guests 13-9 on their way to a 2-0 lead.

Third Set:

  • Trailing 3-1, Roanoke would use a pair of Emory & Henry miscues and a Claire Williams kill to take their first lead. However, the match would be tied at 5-5, 6-6, and 7-7 before the Wasps would re-take the lead.
  • Down one, Angel Ross recorded a pair of kills and Linsey Bailey added another as the Maroons would open a 17-14 lead.
  • E&H would cut it to one, but Roanoke closed the set on a 6-2 run to pick up the 3-0 sweep.
