UMW Baseball Closes Regular Season with 10-3 Win at Randolph-Macon

The University of Mary Washington baseball team defeated Randolph-Macon College, 10-3, on Tuesday afternoon in Ashland, Va. The Eagles close the regular season with a 17-21 record.

UMW wasted little time in providing offense, scoring one run in the first on a Ty Lowe RBI single, and another in the third on a Noah Roots RBI double. The Eagles extended the lead in the fourth inning with a five run outburst. Jonathan Sedmak started the scoring with an RBI single, and Lowe followed with a two-run double. After a walk to Roots, Luke Guerzon and Norman Holcomb provided RBI singles.

Randolph-Macon scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, but UMW continued to hit, scoring a pair of runs in the fifth, as Owen Reilly knocked an RBI double, and was followed by another RBI single from Lowe. UMW scored its last run in the sixth inning on a Jacob Christenbury RBI single. RMC scored one in the eighth, but would draw no closer.

Lowe had three singles and a double, driving in four runs to lead the Eagle offense, while Holcomb had three hits and Sedmak posted two hits and scored four runs.

Justin Ritz gained the win, allowing two runs on five hits in six innings, with two walks and four strikeouts.

The Eagles will return to action on May 13 in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament in Salisbury, Md. Matchups for the event are still to be determined.
