Volleyball Grabs 12th win with 3-0 Sweep of Randolph

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College Volleyball team rolled to yet another win on Friday night sweeping away Randolph College 3-0 on the road in Lynchburg.

The 12 wins and 12-4 record is the most wins and best winning percentage of Head Coach Vicky Gentile's career while it is the most wins this early in a season since the 2012 team finished with 20 wins.

The Bishops won the first set 25-19 on just 9 kills, but had 8 errors from Randolph. Wesleyan then dominated set two 25-15 behind 12 kills hitting .163 before outlasting the Wildcats (6-7) in the third set 26-24 including winning the last three points of the match and clinching it on senior middle Lauren Weaver's kill.

Wesleyan totaled 32 kills in the match led by senior RS Michaela Seawell's 10 kills and 3 total blocks and a hitting percentage of .231. Seawell also had 5 digs and an ace while Senior middle Sydney Barnwell also tallied 8 kills and 4 total blocks along with 3 digs and 2 aces.

Weaver finished with 4 kills and 5 total blocks while junior OH Aubrey Nicholson played very well registering 3 kills, a hitting % of .412, a team-best four aces, and 12 digs. Junior libero Kira Kristjanson then added a team-high 14 digs with an assist and an ace.

Sophomore setter Sloan Martin then finished with 17 assists, 7 digs, 2 kills, 2 aces, and a solo block.

The Bishops return to action Saturday when they remain on their Virginia road trip to battle Southern VA and Mary Baldwin beginning at Noon.
