Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, VA – CNU men's lacrosse hosted Randolph College on Wednesday evening under the lights on Captain's Field. The Captains improve to 3-2 while Randolph drops to 0-5.
The Captains got off to a great start with five goals, from different players, in the first period.
Zach Hill started the scoring after a minute and a half of play off a pass from
Jake Myers.
Dylan Godbout scored almost a minute later from Hill. Randolph held off CNU from scoring for nearly seven minutes until the Captains scored 2 quick goals from
Britt Hoover and
Chase Walton.
Stephen Allman scored Randolph's first goal with 2:17 left in the first period.
The second period had more scoring action from CNU with another goal from
Myers and goals from
Kevin Righi and
Britt Hoover.Randolph also scored a goal with 3:25 left in the period making it an 8-2 halftime score.
The goals continued in the third period for CNU with goals from
Brent Greer,
Jack Gibbs,
Righi and
Walton.
TJ Story scored for Randolph in the last 2 minutes of the period.
The scoring stopped after the third period with neither team netting a goal in the fourth.
The Captains led in shots with 52 and ground balls with 41 while Randolph had 15 and 26. The Captains also led in faceoffs, going 11-18, with
Ari Elrgort taking them all for the Captains.
Andy McGregor had one save and
Matt Miller had seven as they split time in the net.
The Captains return to action this Sunday, March 14, as they host Vassar College at 2:00 pm.
