Emory & Henry Women’s Basketball Rolls Past Ferrum, 73-56, Wednesday On The Road

FERRUM, Va. – The Emory & College Women's Basketball Team (16-3, 10-2 ODAC) inched ever closer to its third-straight 20-win season on Wednesday evening, picking up a 73-56 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over Ferrum College (3-17, 3-10 ODAC). The Wasps saw five players reach double figures in scoring on their way to the win.

How It Happened
- The Wasps jumped out to a 10-2 lead at the 6:11 mark of the first period. Ferrum closed the gap to make the score 18-13 after 10 minutes of play. E&H scored eight of the first 10 points of the second quarter to push its margin to 26-15 and carried a 35-26 advantage into the locker room.
- Returning to action, Emory & Henry scored nine of the first 10 points of the third, to lead by 15 (44-29), but Ferrum answered with a 11-2 run to make it a two-possession game, 46-40.
- A 13-5 run that spanned the final minutes of the third and the opening four minutes of the fourth put the Wasps back in charge, 62-47. After five in a row by FC, E&H ended the game on an 11-2 run for the 73-56 final margin.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior forward Sydney McKinney (Big Stone Gap, Va.) posted a team-high 16 points and added nine rebounds, five steals and two assists while senior forward Kara Stafford (Bristol, Tenn.) had 16 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
- Senior forward Peyton Williams (Saltville, Va.) notched a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, dishing out seven assists in the process.
- Sophomore guard Callie Haderer (Bristol, Va.) tied her career-high with 14 points off the bench while sophomore center Alexis Hoppers (Sparta, N.C.) went for 10 points and five boards.

Ferrum Individual Leaders
- Jessy Nichols paced the Panthers with 14 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals while Arin Bunker had 11 points and seven boards off the bench.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot just 38.3 percent (23-for-60) for the game but made eight three-pointers. The Wasps also scored 19 points at the free throw line.
- Ferrum made 20-of-62 (32.3%) of its field goals with seven makes from long range. The Panthers only went to the line 12 times, but shot an efficient 75 percent (9-of-12).
- E&H held a 51-43 rebounding advantage and used 20 offensive boards for a 24-16 lead on points in the paint.
- The Wasps took advantage of 18 Panther turnovers, leading 24-9 on their resulting possessions.
