The Lead: Wednesday night marked the opening of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) schedule for the Roanoke volleyball team. A trip to Lexington to face Washington and Lee would be on tap for a Maroon team coming off their third tournament of the season. The Generals raced out to an early lead, taking the first set 25-8, on their way to a 3-0 ODAC win over RC.

Highlights:

  • The home team used an 8-0 run to open the first set and cruised to an early 1-0 advantage.
  • The second set would be much closer in the early stages with each team taking turns with the lead. The set was tied, 10-10, before W&L used a 6-2 surge to seize control and take a 2-0 lead with a 25-13 second frame win.
  • Once again, the set would be tied at 10-10 and another General's run would give control to the home team as Washington and Lee finished off the Maroons for the 3-0 ODAC victory.
  • Parker Moody paced Roanoke with nine kills while Kayleigh Eason added five. Kennedy Clemmer had a match-high 16 digs and a service ace. Olivia Newman handed out 16 of the Maroon's 22 assists.

Up next: Roanoke travels to the University of Lynchburg on Saturday for an ODAC tri-match with the Hornets and Eastern Mennonite. The first match is scheduled to start at noon.
