No. 24 DePauw Softball Slips Past Emory & Henry, 3-2, In Final Day Of B-SC Spring Classic Sunday

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The No. 24 DePauw University Softball Team (2-1) scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning as it picked up a 3-2 win over Emory & Henry College (2-2) Sunday morning at the B-SC Spring Classic.

How It Happened
- The Tigers struck in the top of the first with two runs as Becca St. Germain and Grace Smith each had RBI base hits.
- Emory & Henry got on the board in the fourth as junior third baseman Allyson Steadman (Kingsport, Tenn.) hit into a fielder's choice that resulted in an error allowing junior shortstop Kyndall Hiatt (Ararat, Va.) to score from second base.
- In the fifth, the Wasps tied the contest, 2-2, on a single up the middle by junior designated player Alex Braun (Cornelius, N.C.), plating senior catcher Leanna Toler (Abingdon, Va.).
- DePauw broke the deadlock in the seventh when Jade Mejia Wick plated Kate Geary with a single up the middle to make the final score 3-2.
- Julia Bork earned the complete-game victory for the Tigers, allowing one earned run on four hits and four walks. E&H junior Cameron Derr (Cornelius, N.C.) allowed three runs on six hits while striking out seven despite the loss.

- Emory & Henry will play its first home games of the year next weekend as it hosts Salem (N.C.) College on Saturday. First pitch in the doubleheader is scheduled for noon.
