The Short Story: The Roanoke College women's soccer team collected their second-straight shutout with a 5-0 win on the road over the Falcons of Pfeiffer.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Maroons scored twice in the first half. Brooke Nicholson found the back of net on the lower left at 27:15 off a pass from Eliza Ryan.
  • Less than three minutes later Morgan O'Neill took a pass from Jena Wahdan and found the opposite side of the net to give Roanoke the 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
  • O'Neill scored her second goal of the game at 56:57 in the second half off, with an assist by Cameron Shackford.
  • The Maroons got their first double-assist on a goal this season at 63:20 when Lauren Rubino made a cross pass to MC Petrucelli who first a pass straight to Emily Moffitt, who put Roanoke up 4-0.
  • The final goal of the game came from Logan Tyler on a penalty kick at 78:40.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • The Maroons led Pfeiffer in several statistical categories including corner kicks (6-0), shots (22-2), and shots on goal (16-1).
  • Taylor Gallik got the win in the goal after starting and playing the first 45 minutes of the game. She made one save in the only shot on goal by the Falcons.
