The Lead: After earning a 1-1 draw with top ranked Washington and Lee, Roanoke played host to Randolph College looking to move up the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) standings. The Maroons were awarded a Penalty Kick after a handball in the zone and after converting, the lead belonged to Roanoke. The Maroon defense was up to the task as they kept the WildCats off the scoreboard to secure the 1-0 ODAC victory.

Highlights:

  • At the 42-minute mark of the first half, the Maroons were awarded a PK after a handball in the box. Dylan Berk took the shot and after a fake to the left, deposited the ball in the bottom right side of the goal for a 1-0 advantage.
  • The WildCats got a good scoring opportunity but the shot was saved by a diving Zach Behe to keep Roanoke in front.
  • The second half would see the physicality pick up as each team received cards and the final foul total was 6-6.
  • As the seconds began to tick away, Roanoke had what appeared to be another great scoring chance but the play was whistled offside. On the ensuing possession Behe made a save from point-blank range to secure the 1-0 ODAC win.
  • Behe finished the night with two saves on his way to picking up the shutout.

Up next: Roanoke will wrap up their home schedule with a visit from Guilford College on Tuesday night at 7:00pm.
