The Lead: The RC women's tennis team opened up their 2020 campaign with a trip to Kentucky for the Transylvania Invitational. The Maroons faced LaGrange in their season debut and posted a 5-4 victory over the Panthers
How it happened:
- Roanoke raced out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping the doubles matches, picking up a pair of 8-5 wins at #1 and #2 and an 8-3 win at the #3 spot.
- Carolyn Kitsock won at #1 singles without dropping a game, 6-0 and 6-0.
- LaGrange got a win at the #2 spot and picked up two, hard fought, third set tie-breakers at the #3 and #6 positions.
- RC picked up the fifth and decisive point when Margriet Bostoen posted a straight sets win at #4, 6-1 and 6-2.
Up next: The Maroons will play the hosts from Transylvania on Saturday afternoon.
