Muskies Prevail in Battle vs. Virginia Wesleyan

The 25th-ranked Muskingum volleyball team opened the Gio Memorial Tournament play by defeating Virginia Wesleyan, 3-1.

The Basics

How it Happened
• After dropping the first set 25-18, the Muskies battled back and took set two 25-21.
• In set three Muskingum got off to a hot start and cruised to a 25-13 win.
• Riding their momentum from set three, the Muskies finished off Virginia Wesleyan in the fourth frame, winning 25-14.
• With the win, the Muskies hand Virginia Wesleyan their first loss of the season.
• The Muskies were led by senior Brooke Bigrigg with 15 kills and 14 digs.
• The sophomore trio of Lexie Huck, Emma Dunham, and Khloe Taylor all added nine spikes.
• Senior Erin Dickson added 21 assists and three service aces, while junior Emma Conrad chipped in 20 assists.
• Virginia Wesleyan was led by Kathryn Yeager with eight kills.

Inside the Numbers
• As a team, the Muskies tallied 54 kills, 49 assists, 52 digs, nine service aces, and eight blocks. Muskingum ended the match with a .309 hitting percentage.
• Virginia Wesleyan notched 40 kills, 36 assists, 43 digs, and 10 blocks.

Muskingum will wrap-up Gio Memorial Tournament play tomorrow when they square off against Birmingham-Southern and 2nd-ranked Johns Hopkins. Game times are slated for 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. respectively.
