The Lead: The Roanoke volleyball team traveled to North Carolina to face Greensboro College on Tuesday night. The Pride won earlier this season at the Maroon Classic, 3-0, as the Maroons went looking to even the season series. Greensboro won the opening set but the Maroons would seize control and win three consecutive sets to pick up the 3-1 win in the rematch.

Highlights:

  • Greensboro held a 17-15 lead during the opening set before closing out the first frame on an 8-2 run to take a 1-0 lead.
  • The Maroons would get kills by Linsey Bailey, Olivia Newman, and Peyton Kirchner during a 7-1 run that allowed Roanoke to take control and even the match at a set apiece.
  • The Maroons and Pride would be tied at 22-22 in the third set. RC used a pair of Greensboro miscues and a kill by Parker Moody to score the final three points and take a 2-0 lead.
  • Roanoke held a 21-19 lead late in the fourth. A Kirchner kill followed by a pair of Pride errors put RC on the brink of the win. A Moody kill would seal the set and the match for the Maroons.
  • Bailey had 17 kills with Moody and Kirchner adding 10 apiece. Newman handed out 27 assists to go with two kills and nine digs. Kylee Draper had 15 assists while Kennedy Clemmer finished with 20 digs, eight helpers, and three service aces.

Up next: Roanoke wraps up the regular season with a trip to Lynchburg to face Randolph College on Friday night at 7:00pm.
