The Lead:  No. 20 Johns Hopkins used a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to top Roanoke 4-3 in the final game of the Baltimore Invitational.

How it Happened

• Carson McCusker walked with one out, moved to second on wild pitch and moved to third when JHU misplaced a ball hit by Matt Wojciechowski. McCusker then scored on a Carter Plunkett sacrifice fly to give RC a 1-0 lead after a half inning of play. 
• After the first two batters were retired in the Roanoke third inning, Will Salva singled and came around to score when Sam Watson doubled to make it a 2-0 game.
• The Maroons loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth inning and scored when a Blue Jay balk brought in Gavin Kandrick to extend the RC lead to 3-0.
• JHU made the score 3-1 in the next half inning when Austin Sacks doubled home A.J. King.
• A Mike Eberle RBI groundout pushed across Mike Ainsworth to pull the Blue Jays to within one at 3-2 after five innings.
• In the Johns Hopkins ninth, the Blue Jays loaded the bases on two walks and a hit batter. JHU then tied the game when a fly ball was misplayed in the RC outfield. With the bases still loaded, Ainsworth was hit by a pitch to bring in the winning run.
• Kandrick and Mason Staz each had two hits for Roanoke. Kevin Ledford (0-1) took the loss for RC despite not giving up a hit.  He tossed 2.1 innings of relief and struck out four.
• Jaspar Carmichael got the final two outs of the ninth inning to pick up the win and improve to 1-1.
