Roanoke Baseball Downs Emory & Henry, 11-2, Wednesday In ODAC Action

SALEM, Va. – The Roanoke College Baseball Team (15-7, 8-3 ODAC) opened up a 7-1 lead through three innings of play on its way to an 11-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over visiting Emory & Henry College (4-8, 3-8 ODAC) Wednesday night.

How It Happened
The Maroons got on the board with five runs on six hits in the bottom of the second. Will Merriken highlighted the frame with a two-run single through the left side. E&H made it 5-1 in the third as sophomore second baseman Eli Milhorn (Bluff City, Tenn.) doubled to right field, plating freshman centerfielder Jared Foley (Sparta, N.C.).

Roanoke added a pair of runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to push the advantage to 9-1. In the top of the fifth, Emory & Henry struck with a sacrifice fly from senior third baseman Hayden Milley (Clover, S.C.), making the score 9-2. RC tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the eighth to make the final score 11-2.

Roanoke's Will Turner grabbed the win in relief pitching the fourth through six innings. He allowed two runs on four hits with three strikeouts. E&H sophomore Jack Singleton (Charlotte, N.C.) suffered the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits in two innings pitched, striking out two.
