The Muhlenberg baseball team battled back to tie its game against 16th-ranked Roanoke in the eighth inning, but Roanoke walked off in the ninth with a 4-3 win.

Trailing 3-1 after six innings, the Mules (3-3) started its comeback with sophomore
Sam Arnold doubling down the left field line to start the seventh. Arnold advanced to third on a wild pitch, and sophomore
Brenden Weiss beat out an infield hit to allow Arnold to score, making it 3-2.

Matt Riebesell threw out a Maroon runner trying to steal second to end the bottom of the seventh. Junior
Michael Struck led off the Mule eighth with a double to left, and he advanced to third on a wild pitch. Riebesell then brought Struck home with his own double over the left fielder, tying the game at 3-3.

Truman Devitt struck out two batters to end a potential Roanoke threat in the eighth. The Maroons (7-3), however, rallied with two outs in the ninth and brought home the winning run on a single.

Matthew D'Ambrosia started for the Mules, allowing only two hits and one run while striking out six in four innings. Devitt entered to start the fifth inning and finished with three strikeouts.

Muhlenberg travels to Florida for its next six games starting Tuesday with a doubleheader against Emerson.
