FSC Falls 4-1 in Non-Conference Game at Roanoke

Salem, Va. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team played host school Roanoke this afternoon for the second day of their Invitational Showcase and fell, 4-1.

The Maroons (3-0) took an early 1-0 lead only seven minutes into the game on a goal by freshman midfielder Cameron Shackford (Ashburn, Va.) after she was set up by Makayla Metzler (Roanoke, Va.) who recorded the assist.

Only 2:23 later, sophomore forward Morgan O'Neill (Morristown, N.J.) scored off the Shackford pass to extend the Roanoke advantage to 2-0.

In the 15th minute of action, Metzler tallied an unassisted goal to put the Maroons on top, 3-0.

The Rams (1-1) answered with a goal from senior midfielder Molly Dowd (Bay Shore, N.Y.) in the 27th minute to cut the deficit to two, 3-1.

Farmingdale State went into the break trailing 3-1 after being out shot 10-4 in the first half.

The only score in the second half came from O'Neill as Roanoke went on for the 4-1 victory.

For the Rams, sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Jolly (Massapequa, N.Y.) stopped three shots, while Roanoke's Taylor Gallik (Memphis, Tenn.) had four saves.

FSC next will square off against #5 Carnegie Mellon at Misericordia University on Saturday, September 11th at 4:00 p.m.
