Emory & Henry softball team in the huddle

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Emory & Henry College Softball Team saw its time in the NFCA Leadoff Classic come to an abrupt end on Sunday morning. After three hours of intermittent light rain, the City of Tucson overrode NFCA officials, and cancelled the day's remaining games citing "concerns over field conditions and in the interest of player safety."

The Wasps were able to complete their first game of the day, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Lutes of Pacific Lutheran University. E&H's game with Emerson College, scheduled for 11:00 a.m., was stopped by tournament officials just prior to the opening pitch and declared a "no contest."
