The Lead: For the final time this season, the Roanoke women's lacrosse team would defend the turf at Kerr Stadium as they welcomed Randolph College on Wednesday afternoon. It was the final Old Dominion athletic Conference (ODAC) home game of the regular season for a Maroon squad that is currently 2nd in the conference standings. Roanoke scored 13, first quarter, goals and cruised the rest of the way for the 25-0 victory.

How it Happened:

  • Tiernan Connor took a pass from Riley Chase to get the afternoon off to a quick start. Sydney Harrison scored a pair with Emerson Foster and Lilly Blair scored their first and when Connor added a second goal, the Maroons had made it 6-0 after 3:30 of play. Chase scored off a feed from Molly Kasemeyer then Foster set up Libby Bowman. Foster added a second score before Bowman's second goal to make it 11-0. Blair assisted on a Nicole Harrison marker before the Kasemeyer/Chase duo connected again to make it 13-0 after just 15-minutes of play.
  • The Maroons went deep into their lineup in the first half, seeing nine different goal scorers. Grace Koutouzis and Kate Loughran scored second period goals and then Connor completed her hat-trick to give Roanoke a 16-0 halftime advantage.
  • Blair started the second half with her second score and set up another Sydney Harrison score to end the frame. In between, Maddie Stopkoski and Koutouzis would find the back to the net to make it 20-0.
  • Tracey Benzing gave Roanoke another different goal scorer. Forster scored off and assist by Addison Schmidt before Schmidt added her own goal. In the final minute, Natalie Mason moved up from the defensive zone to give Roanoke 13 players with goals in the 25-0, ODAC shutout of the Wildcats.
  • Three goals apiece for Harrison (Sydney), Connor, Foster, and Chase. Kasemeyer had four of the Maroon's 13 assists. Sophia Chickering dominated the draw circle with 15 draw controls. Claire Eisenhart forced a game high two caused turnovers while she and Stopkoski each picked up three ground balls. Hallie Redding got the start and the win in goal before being relieved by Amber Stallings.
