How it Happened

  • Anthony Beccaria gave RC a 1-0 lead at the 11:27 mark of the first quarter.
  • Denison got back-to-back goals, including a Tucker Root strike with 25 seconds left in the period that made it 2-1.
  • Cole Boggio tied that game on an assist from Jason Sarro with just over 11 minutes remaining in the half.
  • Denison got three straight goals to take a 5-2 edge into the locker room at the half.
  • The score remained that way until 9:12 left in the third quarter when Jack Callis scored to make it 5-3.
  • Sarro made it 5-4 before Callis scored with 2:01 left in the third to tie the game at 5-5.
  • The Big Red scored 40 seconds into the fourth quarter when Root started the decisive eight goal run that was capped by an Ethan Tyack goal that made it a 13-5 game with eight minutes to play.
  • Grant Webster and Jack Callis each added goals in the final 1:06 to  close out the scoring for Roanoke.
  • Callis had three goals for RC, while Sarro finished with a goal and two assists on the day. Josh Vetter led Roanoke with four groundballs. Matt Federau made 14 saves in 45 minutes of play for the Maroons.
  • Root finished with four goals for Denison and Reeves McKenney had 13 saves for the Big Red.
  • Denison outshot Roanoke 51-35 and led 38-27 in groundballs. The Big Red won 19-of-24 face-offs in the win.
