The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team feel to Roanoke College, 20-8, on Wednesday afternoon in Fredericksburg, Va. UMW slips to 5-5 overall. The Eagles were led by senior Chris White with three goals. 

Roanoke College got on the board quickly, scoring seven seconds into the first quarter, followed by another goal minutes later. The Maroons bumped their lead up to three goals when they scored once again with 12:26 left in the first. 

The Eagles got on the board when junior Chase Kapuscienski scored,assisted by senior Shane McKenzie, leaving the score at 3-1 with 11:39 left in the quarter. Mary Washington quickly added another goal, this time by the hands of senior Cole Hogan, assisted by fellow senior Davis King. The Eagles evened the score at 3-3 when Vinny Smiroldo scored a goal with 8:40 left in the quarter. 

The Eagles took the lead when senior White drove to the right side of the goal. Mary Washington kept their foot on the pedal, forcing several turnovers on the defensive side of the ball, giving them more opportunities on offense. McKenzie later added his own goal, increasing the Eagles' run of five unanswered goals. 

After many great defensive plays by the Eagles' defense, the Maroons prevailed and narrowed UMW's lead by only one goal. Shortly after, Roanoke evened the score at five goals apiece with a minute left in the first. 

The Maroons extended their lead to 8-5, adding three goals in the first minutes of the second quarter. Roanoke continued their hot streak, scoring three more goals with 6:48 left in the half. 

The Eagles broke the silence with a goal by White, assisted by Smiroldo with 6:07 remaining in the half. The Maroons and the Eagles spent the remainder of the half battling for goals but both defenses prevailed, leaving the score at 11-6 at halftime. 

In the opening minutes of the second half, the Maroons upped their lead to 13-6. Senior Kieran Burns got the first goal by Mary Washington in the second half with 12:15 left in the third. 

Roanoke increased their lead to eight goals, setting the score at 15-7 with 7:07 left. White reenergized the Eagles' offense with a goal that was assisted by McKenzie with 3:58 left in the quarter. The Maroons quickly answered with three goals of their own, with the score now standing at 18-8. 

The Maroons added two goals in the fourth quarter. Roanoke College finished the game with a final score of 20-8.

The Eagles take the field again on Saturday against St. Vincent at 12 p.m.
