The Lead: Roanoke Men's Basketball closed out its regular season on Saturday with a 75-67 ODAC win over Randolph on Senior Day.

How it Happened:

  • Tripp Greene put Roanoke up 8-0 with a three-pointer just over three minutes into the game.
  • Randolph responded with a 10-0 run, taking the lead on an Avery Payne basket at the 13:34 mark.
  • The Maroons strung together a 12-3 run moving in front 20-13 on a Joe Mikalauskas bucket with nine minutes to play in the half.
  • A Brayden Gault  three-pointer put RC out in front 28-23 before the teams would head to the intermission with RC leading 32-28.
  • RC came out in the second-half and extended its lead to 39-30 on a Kasey Draper free-throw with 16:54 to play.
  • With RC leading 45-38, Randolph scored six straight points, pulling within in one at 45-44 with a Tyren Hairston three-pointer with 13 minutes to play.
  • RC led 56-50 when it scored an 11-3 run, pushing its lead to 67-53 on a pair of Jordan free-throws with 2:39 to play in the game.
  • The WildCats used an 11-3 run of its own to make it a 70-64 game when Brian Smith drained a three-pointer with 1:18 to go.
  • That would be as close as Randolph would get as RC knocked down five free-throws down the stretch to seal the game.
  • Joining Jordan in double-figures was Draper with 14 points. Greene finished with nine points and Dillon Thomas seven. Ethan Rohan grabbed 11 rebounds and had four blocks.
  • Smith and Bryce Hall each had 16 points for Randolph, while AJ Marshall had 13 and CJ Loving had 10.
  • Prior to the game, Roanoke honored Jordan, Mikalauskas and Brandon Harrell on Senior Day.

Up Next: Roanoke is seeded fifth in the 2019 ODAC Tournament and will face fourth-seeded Guilford at 3:00 p.m. on Friday in the quarterfinals.
