The Lead: The Roanoke women would open a men's and women's double header with Christopher Newport on Saturday afternoon. The Maroons would score first before the Captains tied it up. Then Roanoke would net four unanswered to take control. CNU made it 9-6 at the half but couldn't close the gap as RC would never trail in picking up the 15-10 win.

How it Happened:

• Maddie Stopkoski scored in the second minute and Emerson Foster added her first of six goals to put RC in front.
• CNU tied it at 2-2 before another Foster free position would put the Maroons in front to stay. Ellie Armstrong, Lilly Blair, and Riley Chase pushed the advantage to four.
• After the break, Roanoke would go on a 3-0 run to give Roanoke their largest lead of the afternoon. Jenna Kuczo scored before Foster added two more to her total to make it 12-6.
• The Captains cut it to four, but Carly Schoudel recorded four consecutive saves to keep Roanoke in front. Blair scored back-to-back goals to put the game away.
• Foster netted six goals on nine shots, all on net. Blair added four scores and an assist with Armstrong adding two goals and a helper. Schoudel got her second win in as many tries and registered nine saves.
• Roanoke would cause 14 CNU turnovers, led by Foster with four while a trio of Maroons added two.

Up Next: Roanoke will hit the road for the first time this season when they travel to Southern Virginia on Tuesday.
