Emory & Henry Volleyball Defeats Roanoke, 3-1, Wednesday Evening On The Road

SALEM, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (7-10) rallied from one set down to claim a 3-1 win over former Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Roanoke College (5-17) Wednesday evening on the road.

How It Happened
- The teams battled back and forth early but a 7-2 scoring run by the Maroons made it a 12-8 contest. After two points by E&H, RC went back on the offensive for a 9-2 run, going ahead 21-12 as it rolled to the 25-17 victory.
- Roanoke took a 6-1 lead in the second set but six in a row by Emory & Henry put it up, 7-6. The squads traded runs back and forth but a 6-1 scoring run by the Wasps gave them the 25-22 win to tie the match.
- In the third, the Wasps and Maroons jostled for control before a 7-1 run by Roanoke gave it a 17-13 advantage. E&H scored 10 of the next 13 to take a 23-20 lead but RC responded with a 4-1 run. The Wasps closed things out to go up 2-1 in the match with the 28-26 win.
- After falling behind 3-0 to start the fourth frame, the Wasps went on a 12-2 run to grab the momentum. E&H put up a 6-1 run for an 18-8 advantage and held off a late charge by RC to take the set, 25-18, and the match, 3-1.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior right-side hitter Carley Williams (Bristol, Tenn.) led all players with 16 kills and added three blocks while junior outside hitter Savanah Keesee (Madison Heights, Va.) had 11 kills, three aces, seven digs and two blocks.
- Sophomore middle Hannah Watson (Kingsport, Tenn.) posted 10 kills and eight blocks as freshman outside hitter Camden Jones (Bristol, Va.) went for six kills, two aces, nine digs and three blocks.
- Freshman setter Paige Halcrow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) put up 21 assists and eight digs as junior setter Marissa Snapp (Chuckey, Tenn.) contributed 14 assists and three aces. Sophomore libero Sarah Moore (Kingsport, Tenn.) posted a match-high 18 digs.

Roanoke Individual Leaders
- Linsey Bailey led the Maroons with 15 kills while Rylee Mayer and Ryanna Clark went for 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
- Kylee Draper recorded a double-double with 21 assists, 11 digs and three aces while Oliva Newman had 17 assists, eight digs and three aces. Kennedy Clemmer notched 17 digs and nine assists as well for RC.
