UMW Men's Tennis Tops Washington & Lee, 5-4, on Tuesday

The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles, and split the singles play to gain a hard-fought 5-4 win over Washington & Lee University on Tuesday afternoon in Lexington, Va. The Eagles improve to 3-2 on the season.

In doubles, UMW's Nick Spera and Cole Tecce defeated James Torbert and Mac Morehead at three, 8-3, and Moses Hutchison and Peter Leese topped Harry Kittredge and T.J. Rudden, 8-6, for a key point going to singles.

In solo play, Hutchison defeated Evan Brady at one, 6-2, 6-1, and Rishi Charan Shankar topped Alex Fedor at two, 6-4, 6-4. Spera defeated Kittredge at four, 6-3, 6-4.

The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Southern Virginia University at 4:00 p.m.
